Close up of Seef Saffah's purple hip-belts: the colour for 2016 summer dance gigsSeef Saffah are in purple, with multi-coloured scarves, for this year’s summer season of gigs.  We’re appearing at a number of venues and festivals to celebrate summer with Belly Bolly dance performances. Fingers crossed for sunshine and benevolent blue skies to make the gigs as cheerful as can be!  Come along and boogie with us.

Our dance set for this season’s gigs again reflects our eclectic Belly Bolly outlook, with a mix of music and styles from different places and times.  We open with a snazzy Egyptian number, then a lyrical Algerian pair dance, followed by a Lebanese rap.  The second half of the gig has a modern take on an old standard that everyone will recognise after initial surprise.  Then comes an Andalusian scarf dance, using mediaeval ‘nuba’ music that is a blend of Moorish and Spanish styles.  We finish with a very vigorous Bollywood number that will be instantly recognisable and good for jigging along with.
Friday, June 17th: 2 p.m. Holifield Farm’s Big Tent Day, Gweek, followed by a 1/2 hour workshop at 2.30 p.m.  This is  a fun gig with lots of laughs in the workshop afterwards.
Saturday, June 5th: 2.40 p.m. the bandstand, Morrab Gardens as part of Penzance’s Mazey Day.  This is one of our favourite gigs, with people cheerfully sitting around on the grass in festive mood.
Sunday, July 3rd: 1.50 p.m. Godolphin Fair, set in the grounds of Godolphin House.  This is a brilliant chance to see how beautiful the grounds and woodland are there, while the house is full of character.
Monday, July 11th:11.45 a.m. and 1.45 p.m. Stithians Show. This is our first gig at the Show, which is massive and full of so many different activities.  We affirm that our dancing will go down well with people there to see farm stock and tractors!
Sunday, August 14th: 2.30 p.m. Holifair at Holifield Farm Gweek, followed by a 1/2 workshop at 3.05 p.m. This is a particularly colourful venue and our mix of Belly Bolly dance styles reflects the variety of people and acts there.
Sunday, August 21st: 1.30 p.m.  part of the Bare Foot Festival held at Godolphin House, celebrating all manner of activities without shoes!  We’re doing a 1/2 hour workshop afterwards at 2 p.m.
Wednesday, September 7th: 5 p.m. the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek.  This is our first gig there as part of a charity event.  We’re just wondering what the seals will make of us!
