Indian dance comes to S W Cornwall!  I’m thrilled to be hosting Katie Holland at Ponsanooth Hall over the weekend of April 14th & 15th 2018, where she’ll teach us a variety of Eastern dance styles to add to our repertoire!

Saturday, April 14th: 1 – 5.30 p.m. (incl 1/2 hour tea break)  BHARATANATYAM and BOLLYWOOD
Katie will teach us mudras (hand positions), footwork and combos from this beautiful classical Southern Indian dance for women.  Then we’ll funk it up into a masti (cheeky) and masala (spicy) Modern Bollywood choreography!
Sunday, April 15th 10.30 – 3.15 p.m. (incl 3/4 hour lunch)  INDIAN MUJRA AND BALINESE BLESSING DANCE
‘Mujra’ is a traditional Indian dance passed down from mother to daughter, encompassing classical storytelling and mime.  We’ll learn some of this dance style then combine it with Bharatanatyam, Nepalese and Balinese moves to create a Blessing Dance, graceful and emotive.
There’ll be lots of interesting costume and accessories to buy, so come prepared!
Earlybird cost before March 1st: one day £40 / both £70.  Thereafter: one day £45 / both £80

Katie Holland has danced from the age of three, then started her Arabic dance training in 1994.  She has lived and worked in India, Asia and Europe since 2006, performing for Bollywood celebrities.  She has also studied widely with masters of sacred cultural dances, Tantra, Shamanic and energy healing techniques.  So we’ll receive a lot of information about traditions and cultures as well as a fascinating mix of Eastern dance.  What more can we ask?  So, come along and join in the fun!
